Vote For Jose Luis Piña

My Bio

I decided to run because I spent over fifteen years sitting in community meetings, coaching local youth, and leading parent organizations, only to watch the same deeply rooted challenges persist in our schools. The breaking point wasn't a single headline—it was seeing bright, capable students in our neighborhood denied the resources, academic rigor, and supportive environment they deserve simply because of their zip code. When you spend years listening to parents who feel unheard and watching decisions get made without real community input, you realize that waiting for change from the top down isn't working. I'm running to give our families a direct, accountable voice on the school board, ensuring our budget prioritizes classroom success, safe facilities, and strong educational pathways for every child in Lynwood.

My Key Issues

Fiscal Transparency & Direct Resource Allocation to Classrooms

Conduct a comprehensive audit of the district budget to ensure maximum funding reaches our classrooms, teachers, and student programs rather than administrative overhead. Establish open, accessible financial reporting so parents and community members can easily track how every taxpayer dollar is spent.

Academic Excellence & Expanded Pathway Programs

Strengthen core academic instruction while expanding career, technical, and college-preparatory pathways for all students. Advocate for improved resources for English language learners and high-demand STEM and vocational programs that directly prepare our youth for higher education and stable careers.

Safe, Modernized, and Welcoming School Facilities

Prioritize crucial upgrades to school infrastructure, athletic facilities, and campus safety measures. Push for proactive facility maintenance schedules and improved campus security standards to ensure every child learns in a clean, modern, and secure environment.

Authentic Parent & Community Voice in District Governance

Create formal, recurring feedback channels between the school board, PTO/DELAC leadership, teachers, and neighborhood families. Ensure major policy and budgetary decisions involve meaningful community input before votes are taken, giving families a true seat at the decision-making table.
